Turkey choke ?

I have a Stoeger O/U Condor 12 gauge, that I will be using this year for first time turkey hunting. I have two extra full chokes coming for the shotgun. My question would I do better getting after market Turkey chokes and if so which ones? I have not had a chance to pattern this shotgun yet (waiting on the new chokes), however, will probably using 5 shot from a known company in 3" shells.

Extra full chokes tubes should be fine. Pattern the shotgun at several distances to see how it does with the ammo you will be using. Every shotgun patterns differently, and it is very possible to "over choke" a load to the point that the pattern gets worse.

Most 12 gauge shotguns with 3" #5 shot loads will kill a turkey stone cold dead @ 40 yards.

I killed my first turkey with a H&R Topper in .410 with #6's.

My first gobbler with a 870 in 20 gauge.

And my next 5 or 6 with a 1100 Rem. with a fixed full choke 30" bbl. and 2 3/4" #6's.

My pappy always said " if you need a 3" or 3 1/2" gun, you need to spend less time shooting...and more time learning how to call a turkey."

....I still use 3" ammo.

You won't know until you pattern the x-full chokes you already have. My guess is that they will be just fine. Gotta do the legwork though. Pattern with the loads you will be using. Make sure some BBs hit the bone. Good luck turkey hunting!
