Does anyone know of a tumble lube bullet design for a 30-30 Winchester in either 150 grain or 170 grain? Any suggestions or comments are appreciated thanks.

The Ranch Dog and NOE "165 gr" designs get high praise.

With wheel weight alloy, they finish anywhere from 150 gr to 172 gr, depending upon bullet and configuration (TL, standard grooves, HP, FP, GC, PB, and original vs updated designs).

My recommendation would be the latest version of the Ranch Dog 311-165-RF (sold by NOE -- SC311-165-RF for standard grooves; TLC311-165-RF for tumble lube).
Though the old bullet was well loved, the updated version has a larger meplat for better paper cutting and better performance on game, and the bearing surface was increased to help in Micro-Groove and well-worn standard-rifled barrels.

thanks

Thanks everyone for the advice i just recently got in to reloading and want to save even more money. (plus the added fun of creating your own bullets)I will look at the links added thanks!

I have tumble lubed Lee's design's C309-113-F , C309-150-F and C309-170-F with Lee Liquid Alox , loaded and fired from Winchester model 94 , 30-30 with good results. Loaded with Red Dot or Unique powder for target/ tin can and plinking. The 113 grain bullet would be a handy squirrel load.
Just follow Lee's tumble lube directions....you do not need a special TL designed mould to TL . I actually believe the conventional designs shoot better than the multi- small bands of the TL designs, or so it seems to me.
Load safe,
Gary

I load this one (link) for my 300 Savage. One I wouldn't hesitate to use in my 94 what-so-ever. Nice Ranch Dog designed tumble lube Flat Point/ Hollow Point at my whim. Gas checking it is a option. Have shot it both ways with & without a check. Either way didn't seem to bother its 100 yrd. accuracy. When using this bullet in a model 94 I would suggest T/lubing this bullet in its raw dropped condition. Winy 94 barrels prefer a cast bullet with a tad extra diameter i.e. .310-to-.312.

Ben's liquid lube:

Works on ANY bullet and allows you to push 2,000 fps with 3 applicatons.

Hi-tec may be even better.
