Tulsa Gunshow

Just wondering who all is going to go to the gunshow in Tulsa on Oct. 21st and 22nd. This is a 3700 table show that is just out of this world. I got to go last April and I was just totally amazed at all the guns, it took two days to walk thru and that wasn't getting to see everything. Gunslinger and I are planning on going and there is a few others that are going to meet down there, so I thought maybe Sat. night after the show whoever comes can meet and go out to eat.

Where can I find more informaiton about this show? I live in the Kansas City area and this is in driving distance. The most tables I have seen in a show here is 700. 3,000+ is one to see.

RAT, you can go to www.tulsagunshow.com for further information. It is about two and a half hours from Springfield (where Terri and live).
The show is held every April and October. I try to never miss it.

I plan on being there. Terri, can you decide what time(s) we should all meet and where? The "where" could just be inside a particular door of the facility, or at a particular merchan'ts table, or something like that. We could set say, 4 meeting times - one Sat morning (say 9am), one Sat afternoon (say, 1pm), one Sun morning, and one Sun afternoon, all at the same place. I know Jeff OTMG is coming.

I'm gonna try to make it. A couple of guys I work with are going to have a table there. The rest of us may try to carpool up for one day anyway. I've been to some big shows at Market Hall and the Convention Center in Dallas but never anything that big before.

i'll be there with a table, and i never miss it, it's the one to make if you don't go to any gun show ever. it's bigger than big. a very good show, lots of good people.

Futo, Gunslinger and I will probably go down Friday night after I get off of work so we will get there probably around 9 Friday nite, we can meet anytime during Sat. because we will be there all day Sat. and Sun. and when we leave there Sun. we are headed to San Antonio and we are going to do a gunshow in San Antonio the next weekend. :) Yes Futo you have a good idea about having the different meeting times, this way the ones that don't show up till later will still be able to catch up with us. Gopher, this is the largest show I think in the US except for the one in Nevada, I heard if you walk down every aisle and this isn't including walking down one side and up the other, this is just hitting the aisle once it is a 7 mile walk, so everyone that hasn't been there before be sure you put your walking shoes on. :)

I just spent a few days in Tulsa & tumbled to the J.Davis Museum in Claremore (about 20 miles NE of Tulsa). If you don't know it, (and I didn't have a clue), it has what is porported to be the largest individual collection of firearms in the world, some 20,000+ pieces. Give youeself at least a short afternoon to wander through another mile of guns.
I'll try & get back for the show in October. Enjoy...

JR, welcome to TFL. I have been to the Davis museum many years ago and it is an experience worth anyones time.

Gunslinger - Many Thanxs, I was dragged here kicking & screaming by my oldest son, liked what I was seeing & hearing...

I used to live in Tulsa and will also go to the show. It is crowded tho, so be prepared. The Davis Museum has alot of the guns that used to be displayed in the hotel in downtown Claremore years ago. I mean they just stuck them on the walls on each floor. Another great gun collection is at Woolrock Museum in Bartlesville, OK (oilman Phillips collection) and for great western art go to Gilcrease Museum just outside Tulsa. Enjoy!!

Hello Gunslinger and Terri, how are you'll?
My husband and I are wanting to go, that is if we can come up with the money for an AR15. I have been talking to Son about one that a friend of his is selling, but I don't know if I should go check out a big gun show like Tulsa just to make sure that I can't find a good deal there. I trust Son and his judgement of the guy, but, I don't know how I feel about the shipping part of it. I don't know anything about it. I just know that I would have to do some other stuff to have it shipped. Can you'll advise me? Infact, one reason about whether to get it there or not is, that if we could get it there, it would be a GREAT reason to go. I don't know if I want to make that drive if I couldn't buy anything. Again, let me know what ya think. And, about how much money I would need to bring. I am thinking close to 900.00 for the motel gas gun and tax on gun. Again, I don't know. The one that Son's friend is saving for me will be 650.00 total before shipping and the fees. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I don't know what to do. HELP ME!!!
Thanks

You darn right I am going. I bought my plane ticket over a month ago and booked the rental car week before last. Still need to book a room, but getting there and getting around is the important thing. To those of you who think that you can see this show in a day you better get there early. I takes me about 8 hours to walk the show. The floor space of the building is 11 acres, it was the largest square footage under one roof on a single level in the U.S. until Boeing finshed the assembly building for the 747 airplane.

Whether you can afford anything or not Christina, just seeing this show is worth the time, I don't buy nothing there I just go to walk around and look at all the neat stuff people have to display. :)

Hey, Dad!! Never thought I'd see you here!!

OT - I'm the eldest son that jrhines is talking about. I'll leave him to introduce himself, suffice it to say that he taught me everything I know. ;)

Tulsa, huh?? Wow. Long drive from Lafayette, but maybe I can work something out...

Later,
Chris
