Tulsa gun show shooting

I was at the big gun show in
Tulsa today. At about 4:45 pm someones gun went off. All I know is second hand info from those around the actual location. Apparently someone dropped a loaded gun and shot either themself or someone else nearby. I 'm not trying to start any rumors so anyone who has the FACTS fellfree to let everyone know what really happened and how bad the person is hurt. Sorry for the sketchy information but I thought some might be interested. FNG

To add info, the fact of the matter is. There was a dealer who had bought a glock magazine, and it wasnt working correctly. So he brought it back to the table where he had purchased it from, and begun racking bullets out of the slide. He went to put the gun, back in the front of his pants and it went off. It shot the guy right beside him. Went through one femural artery, through the groin, into the other femural artery in the other leg. Apparently it was iresponsibility with a firearm. The guy was hauled to jail and charged with a misdemeanor, reckless handiling with a firearm. He was a security guard, holding a officer license with a CCW permit. He was 26 years of age. The victim was older, dont know the age. He was a customer. The pistol fired was a glock 10mm (40 cal), Model 20. To add a positive note to all this. The lady with NRA (BTW she was wearing a mini skirt :) stood in front of the media camera so they couldnt get full shots of the guy coming out on a stretcher. And the Wannemacher Show set up a donation can for the victim. Over all I am glad he wasnt killed or he didnt die. That would of been a bad thing for gun shows accross the US.

FNG why didn't you show up to meet all of us? BigDawg was there, Futo Ino came up from OKC, Gunslinger, terridari, Rod from Mo, Condition One, ten of us all went and had dinner together Sat night. I left the show about 15 mins before the shooting. Glad I missed it and it missed me. ALL of the gun show shootings that I am personally aware of, six, have been caused by unsafe handling by the dealers at the shows, not the customers.

Awww, crap. What is so hard to understand about "Don't stick a Glock down your pants without a holster?" We're going to hear a lot more about this. Tell an anti that it's not a reason for more gun control because the guy only got what he earned by being stupid, and all they hear is "Yep, gun owners are stupid. Come get our guns before we drop a machine gun in a schoolyard and it empties the magazine."

Tell ya what... It got real quiet real quick in there.

TULSA — A man was arrested Saturday after a loaded pistol he carried into a Tulsa gun show discharged and shot the man standing next to him in the leg, authorities said.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jacob James Hurst, 24, on a complaint of reckless handling of a firearm, said Maj. Brian Edwards.

Hurst was taking a 10-millimeter semiautomatic pistol out of a holster when it discharged, Edwards said.

The victim was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital. He was listed in stable condition Saturday at a Tulsa hospital. His name was not released.

Edwards said investigators do not know how a loaded pistol made it into the gun show.

Joe Wanenmacher, the gun show’s manager, said guns at the show are not supposed to be loaded. He said there were eight guards at the show checking to make sure guns were not loaded.

Wanenmacher said this is only the second shooting at a gun show he has managed. He has held gun shows at Tulsa’s Expo Square twice a year since 1955.

He said the last shooting was not fatal.

If only they had done a NICS check this wouldn't have happened. Boy this is the kinda rep we need! Too bad he didn't shoot his own dang leg!

I totally avoided posting this topic last night, hoping beyond hope that the news would not get out, and I wouldn't let it out for sure. I was about 50' away when it happened. Scared the s**t out of myself and buddy...and we were just about to get under a table for more cover. I too wanted to meet you guys, but I did not know when...were you guys at the back ramp?

Several people were on the crouching for cover.
I knew that sounded louder than a 9mm.
Did anyone of you see when about the fourth deputy came in and was practically grabbing
the one dealer saying 'why arent their ties on these guns.'
I loved the way everyone around their looked at him together like he was a brick wall
with a Nazi insignia on it.
When he stepped away he repeated for his friends what the officer asked and then replied 'because we dont load ours'.
Despite how bad I feel for the fella I wonder how many car accidents that week were in the paper that week.
I sure found a few great deals, passed out about 90 GOA newsletters to people who hadnt heard of them and about 50 JPFP 'guncontrol is racist booklets mostly to the few black people their.I was the medium height white guy in GOA cap and JPFO 'guncontrol is racist' t- shirt did anyone see me?
I went to the rear NRA table first and then
to the front and asked around for anyone from
TFL and even said the firing line. But I didnt get their unitl 1:17 guess I missed you guys.Maybe next year I will ofcourse go to the earlier 2500 table show.
Their were soooo many collectible antique guns.
On the shooting I have a small reminder.
One month ago in Memphis a city police officer was transporting his shotgun to the precint and shot himself in the leg.
This story had a small maybe 5 paragraph article in the paper and 3 minutes twice that day on the news.

Jeff OTMG, sorry I missed you guys. I wasn't at the show until 11:30 am, and then the next time I looked at my watch, it was 3pm, and I knew you guys had already dispersed. I'm sure Isaw you all, but I have no idea who you were.

Does anyone know if the 57-yo bystander victim lived? Condition? Last I heard, he was in stable condition.

Also, does anyone know if this victim was an NRA or GOA member? That would help in determining whether I will donate to his fund.

Jeff, Imagine this had happened last year? OMG I would have never went shooting lol. Of course now,I do realize it was a stupid accident. Glad everyone is ok!
