The following is an interesting quote from the Texas State Rifle Association regarding Bush's candidacy. I figure that TSRA's opinion is worth considering, because they probably know his position on guns better than anyone else.
"TSRA endorses George W. Bush because he has done everything for us that he said he would. I heard him speak at a Legislative Reception at the beginning of the legislative session in 1995. He told a group of legislators that he would sign a Concealed Carry Bill if they could get it to his desk. Ann Richards had vetoed their work the session before. He signed the Manufacturers Protection legislation passed in this last session. He signed it when he did not have to because it had passed by a large enough majority to become law without his signature. He signed it against the advice of his staff. Remember it was early after Columbine? We want to support someone who can win. Period."
I find it especially interesting that Bush signed the anti-lawsuit bill "against the advice of his staff."
