Trying to understand history of my new Mauser 24/47

I just bought/won a Mauser 24/47, 6.5x55mm caliber at an auction. Was looking for Swedish Mauser and stumbled on this rifle in same caliber. I was under impression all Yugo 24/47 were 8mm and can't find reference to other 6.5x55mm rifles so believe caliber was converted. Is this a common conversion?
I'm eager to pick up this week and shoot and looking for thoughts and feedback on my $160 buy?
 
militaryforums.com large section just for mausers. You will need to provide very detailed photos of it. just tape out serial number. the info should be in your guns date codes, and any conversions will be in proof codes.
 
If it is indeed a 24/47 in 6.5 Swedish its been rebarreled by someone here in the US. For $160 I think you did well as long as it isn't totally butchered.
 
The Yugo Mausers (M1924, M24/47, M48 series, etc.etc.) were never factory chambered in anything but 7.92 x 57 JS (commonly referred to as "8mm Mauser"). So, one in 6.5 x 55 IS a rebarrel job.

I'd check it over closely, or have a reputable smith do this, before firing it, if I were the OP.
