Trying to date my Browning 12ga

I have a Browning Light 12 gauge that I was always told was made in Belgium. I don't see anything on it that says Belgium. On the bottom of the receiver, just forward of the loading port it is stamped 1G and below that is 29XXX. Can anyone tell me when and where it was made? Thanks in advance.

Belgium in 1961 - All guns made in Europe bear proofmarks particular to the country of it's origin, and all guns profed in Belgium should have an "ELG" stamped somewhere into the bottom metal.

Recommend that you log into..

the browning website and download the parts catalog and order up replacement friction bronzes and steel rings plus might want to get a new recil spring for around the tube.

These parts will improve cycling and minimize the impact of barrel on the receiver heel. Good cleaning of the outside surface of mag tube and light oil at top will help.

ENJOY!
