Trying to date a Remington deer rifle

Maybe someone here has access to info for Remington serial numbers. I going to look at a Rem. model 722 tomorrow, in .308 Win. caliber. The serial number is 1053XX. It would be a great help if someone could tell me the year of manuf., and even a rough estimate of value, in decent condition. Thanks.

They were manufactured from 1948 till 1962 but you can't indentify them from the serial number. There should be a letter code located on the left side of barredl near the frame that is the date code. The serial number isn't going to help much, the barrel date code is what you're looking for. If someone re-barreled the action, then you won't have a date code.
