Ive become addicted to level actions. But now i have a desire to get one in either 7mag or in good ole 45/70, after shooting a few of a buddies magnum rifles i became able to withstand and partially enjoy the recoil. My main use would be a target rifle and maybe one day a grizzly, moose, or elk hunt (assuming my better half permits) Anyone have insight on which caliber or model to buy?

The old 4570 in a modern rifle can still bring home the game. If you reload you can make some great 4570 loads to do what ever you want . The Marlin 1985 in 4570 is a must have rifle .If you have the $$$$$$$$$$ the Garret Hammer head ammo can take any game that walks the planet .You can also load your on rounds to the same power level if Brown Bear is on the menue.;)

What's a level action? Is that one that's 0 degrees in relation to the ground?

yes. it's the latest tacticool thing, everybody's doing it! the trick is learning to adjust for elevation. you either need to stand up straighter to shoot higher, or get in the kneeling/prone to shoot lower. if you need to shoot a LOT lower, you may have to get farther away and let physics do their thing with bullet drop

The Browning BLR comes in the hard thumping 358 Win. That is a 308 necked up to 35 cal. Its a reloader's cartridge, but it allows you to have the short action version of the BLR. If you have ever carried the long action version, you can appreciate the handiness of the smaller short action.

Factory loaded 358 Win. can be found online or ordered by most gunshops who deal with an ammo distributor...but the reason that the 358 Win is a reloader's cartridge is because factory loads are over $40 per twenty rounds.

Plus there is only one factory load available for the . 358 Win. Browning also chambers the .300 WSM in the BLR and the .325 WSM if you really want a thumper !
