truglow adjustable choke

I picked up a slightly used truglo titan choke tube and had a question. Is it ok to turn the adjustable collar with your hand past the marked settings(cylinder to unscrew, extra full to screw in) to remove or install? I was thinking this might mess up the collar cause I want it tight as I can. The dilema I am in, is I didn't get the original wrench that came with choke from factory.

I tried installing mine without the wrench, which I later found in the packaging. It's hard to get it tight enough to not come loose as you twist it to adjust it. The wrench looks similar to this. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/19...nch-ar-15-buttstock-1911-barrel-bushing-steel
