Truck gun

Just purchased a MAP FS 9mm(Rock Island Armory) as a utility gun(truck). It's pretty much a polymer framed clone of my CZ75B, but for $300 OTD new, it will do service,on the seat, in the glove box, and anywhere that my CZ75, or Browning highpower, would get damaged. I just got it, and haven't tried it at the range yet. Anyone already have one, and if so, any ideosyncracies ? Too large for what I consider "concealed carry", my LC9 has that job.
My range is closed til the 8th of November for late deer season, so I won't be doing a range report untill then. Strange story about this pistol: parts made by Tanfoglio(I presume in Italy), but assembled in the Phillipines. It's sure not a witness in quality, but seems fuctional. I'm checking out the magazine situation, hope my 5 CZ75's will work.:)

If it's anything like my Sar K2p, it'll be a fine pistol. I would guess the cz75b mags would fit and function. They work in the k2p.

If yours is polymer, it should be the MAPP FS, not the MAP. Does yours have a light rail, or not? I'd be interested in one of those Rock Island MAP or MAPP models, if they offered one withut a rail, but all I've seen are railed models.

I believe in my heart that a truck gun is a horrible idea, and when you carry everywhere... it's redundant in addition to being a liability.

I'd be interested to hear how that works out. I'm mildly interested in picking up a CZ75 clone some time.

My truck gun is either a rifle or shotgun. They come in every night never leave them in my truck if it is not going to be used for hours.

For the love of god please lock your truck and consider a secure mount for the gun if you are going to keep it in there.

Unless you just want to donate it to the meth head community.

When I'm on public roads , it's locked in the console when I'm out and about, stays in the house with my Ranch rifle when I'm home.. Yes it's a MAPP FS. I usually carry a Ruger LC9, as my CCW, or an SP101 in .327 Fed. I don't live in a town, and we don't lock our vehicles.
A rifle is too slow to get into action, as I carry a ranch rifle in the truck as well. I do a lot of driving on private property, and find myself in the middle of nowhere quite often.

I've bought three or four truck guns and I don't even own a truck. And I don't carry a gun in my car (carry one on my person). But I figure if I ever get a truck, I'll be ready.

With the prolific "No Guns Allowed" signage here in NE Ohio, my carry gun spends about half it's life being a "truck gun".

I swear it's idiocy.......people scared of guns would rather have them locked up in the vehicle in their parking lot - unattended - instead of being carried by someone that's had a training class, background check and been fingerprinted....

Defies common sense:confused:

I don't own a truck, but my car has a trunk. I carry a 15+1 CZ P07 daily so another pistol would be a bit redundant. I do have an SKS and some stripper clips in my trunk.

Most CZ clones I have seen seem to be pretty good and get favorable reviews. You can get the SAR B6 or B6P(Metal or Poly) for under 300 dollars. They go on sale a lot for closer to 250.

You guys say that like redundancy is a bad thing.

Let us know about the mag compatibility. I'd love something under $300 that could use CZ75B mags

Gun control is about 'feelings', not logic.

Redundancy is good unless it's a liability. A dedicated truck gun is a liability and depending on your State, it can be a liability in multiple different ways.

If redundancy is high on your list... a second gun on-person is an option.

How is that , exactly?

Every truck needs a gun.
