Trouble removing adapter from Suppressor Ready M&P 22 Compact

I got an M&P 22 Compact yesterday and I'm pretty excited about it. However, it's the Suppressor Ready version and I can't field strip it without removing the adapter. S&W includes a very fragile little wrench to get this thing off but it's a real bear to remove. I wouldn't say I've tried as hard as I can yet... but I've tried to the point that I'm worried about hurting the gun. So far all I've done is scrape some bluing off the adapter. Any words of wisdom on getting this thing off? I'm pretty nervous about hurting my new baby.

Ten to one, it's got thread or bearing locker on it.
It might require some heat.
Before doing that, try soaking the parts in one of the nastier versions of bore cleaner.
Some of them will dissolve even red Loctite.

Thanks for the tips. Finally got it to come off. Luckily didn't even need to heat it up. It's just a little nerve wracking twisting so hard on the barrel a brand new gun.

At least they provided you with a wrench, my compact and that of my buddy did not come with one. My friend spent quite a little time and frustration trying to removve the thread protector finally making a wrench and chucked the barrel in a vise before the magic "pop" was heard and the unit was removed.
I have not even tried on my pistol and shoot his when we find a hog in one of his traps. Perhaps S&W, of whom i am a great admirer, employes now out of work Godzilla to instaall them. Perhaps the Japanese movie industry will call him back to doing what he does best----burning Tokyo and destroying monsters while a more light fingered installer can be found.
( sorry but it is 3AM and 9 degrees outside, gotta do something to keep warm)

I broke 2 of the S&W wrenches and mangled the barrel nut before sending it back to S&W to make them take it off.

Over tightened thread adapters on the MP 22Compact is, apparently, a common thing.

Yep, I saw some pictures online of broken wrenches. That's when I really got worried. But mine did come off with just some extra elbow grease.

I like the mental image of Godzilla working at a S&W factory, btw.

I bought mine because the price was good, but had no need for the adapter. I called S&W and they were kind enough so send one out post-haste. I was kinda nervous trying the wrench on mine - but it came loose pretty easily. Not sure why S&W didn't just include a standard muzzle cap in the box with the adapter versions ...
