Trouble mounting weaver scope

I have a new Winchester model 70 in .30-06. I'm trying to mount a Weaver K6 on it. I cannot find a mount and ring combo that allows me to move the scope back further. I thought putting a one piece Warne tactical base on it would solve the problem, but now I still can't move the scope, as the front bell would hit the base. I don't want to put higher rings on it because the base is already high enough and don't want the scope to be super high off the barrel. Does anyone know of any mount system that would allow me to move the scope back. I saw Talley has their extended rings, but I don't know if that would work. I don't like windage adjustable set ups, so anything other than that would work. I'm thinking I might just have to get a different scope (I have a VX-1 but it's even shorter than the Weaver).

Fpr my 70's, am using the Weaver 46 & 47 mounts...

and the extention set of rings. Not the "Quad" crap they offer now.

Also, consider millng a bevel on the front of your to eliminate the interference.

from your pic, it loos like you can machine or file down the front of the mount, which would allow you to move the bell to the rear. Just take it off the gun and have at it with a Dremel tool or file.

I had the same problem with my rifle, a Savage 110 and the Weaver K6. I went with Burris extended front mount AND an extended front ring.

I also considered beveling the edge of the front mount and I still might at some later date. It's really close to the bell of the scope.

However, I consider the short length of the Weaver K6 worth the effort. I'm convinced that it's a magnificent hunting scope, and the game animals on my lease haven't advanced any rational arguments against it.
