Tritium Night Sights

I'm looking into picking up some night sights for my USP Tactical, but this is my first time purchasing night sights so I'm hoping I can get some pointers here. Price isn't too much of an object, but I would prefer if it would cost less than $200. Also, Crimson Trace lasergrips or anything similar to a Crimson Trace that works on the USP Tactical also works for me. Also, would I be able to install the night sights or lasergrips myself or would I require a gunsmith to do that?

You could send your slide to Trijicon and they will install them for you. Other than that, I would recommend you have a gunsmith install the sights. I think the lasergrips are easy to install.

COrrect. Lasergrips are easy to install. I have Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II and really like the laser. I just added Tritium Night Sights to it also and really like them. I mainly added the sights becasue the gun came with just black sights and I am used to white dots. Just adding white dots cost about half what the night sights did so I just went with them

Lasergrips are easy to install.

Perhaps they would be, if Crimson Trace made Lasergrips for any H&K...

If you really want a laser on your USP, you'll have to get a rail-mounted laser and if it comes from anyone but H&K, you'll also have to get a USP rail to Picatinny rail adapter.

Best of luck.

Just checked out Trijicon's site. Apparently they don't offer night sights for USP Tacticals (is where the sight sits cut differently between a USP and a Tactical?)

I think Meprolight has one that works for a Tactical. Does anyone know much about these?

Also, did I just happen to buy a gun that no one makes aftermarket accessories for or am I just not looking in the right places?

I highly recommend Trijicon. I've had them on my Glock 17 for about 19 years or so and they are a little dim but still useable. I've shot countless thousands of rounds through this gun and the sights have never come loose. They still look and work good.

I think that with install, they are still only around $100 or so. No lasers for me, thanks.

I happen to have two of those and my brother has one. Mepro makes the adjustable night sights for your gun, I installed a set of these on my brothers. (brass punch & hammer) Heini makes a straight eight for them. On one of mine I just used some TFO's and had a smith install those. The tfo's sit really low and they look great. If you plan on using a suppressor you have to go with Mepro or Heini. I really like the Heinies. All of these are under 200 bucks Good luck

The only thing to look out for is if you decide to install them yourself there is often a taper to the dovetail. You have to knock them out the same way you put them in. I don't remember but belive for H&K knock them out from left to right and install from right to left. Again not positive about that. If you don't they will be lose in the dovetail.

I have/had both Trijicons and Meprolights. I prefer the Mepros over the Trijicons, and have been switching them out as they go.

I usually sell the old night sights on EBay for about half what a new set goes for, which paid for my one sight tool.

If you have a couple guns of the same type, the tool is worth the money. It makes the install very easy, usually about a 5 minute job, with no damage to the sights, something the hammer and punch method can do if you get heavy handed. It also allows you to easily adjust the windage.

If you do try to install your own, have a piece of fine emery available. If you need to fit the sights, you put the sheet of emery flat on the table, and lightly rub the base flat across it. The difference is usually just the finish on the bottom of the sight, but if for some reason you need to remove metal, which you normally dont, you take it off the bottom, not the sides, and most defineitly, not the gun. .
