Tritium Front Sight Post

So, this is an upgrade I've considered for some time for my AR (standard fixed sight). Seems as if it would be very practical upgrade, but I haven't been able to find much info or reviews, and don't SEEM to me to be that popular... I get that a red dot eliminates the need, but electronics always have potential to fail (even the very best). Anyone here have any illuminated iron sights on their rifles? Or had some experience with them? Thoughts and input much appreciated.

Throw me a bone...

Anyone tried the XS tritium sights, either in the dot or stripe config? Or anything similar? C'mon, guys... Even just a "Yep. Like it."?

I have a couple of AR's and AK's with front night sights (dots), and have no real complaints. They work.

The AR's are mounted on my BUIS, so they really are just a back up to the Aimpoints.

The AK's sights are a little larger in size, and tend to reduce their effective range somewhat, but they work great for closer range shooting.

I had the rear sights on all of the AK's at first, but have since replaced the factory rear sight on two. My complaint there is, the dots need to be smaller on the rear, so they dont fuzz out. I have a shotgun with smaller vials on the rear, and its a lot better.

I didnt want the rear on the AR's lit since the rear sight is about in your eye when shouldered, and I really dont see them working all that well like that.

rebuild

We did a rebuild of our full size M16 type rifles down to M4 configuration, adding a new, 14.5 bbl and telestock. One of the upgrades we did was to add an XS Tritium front sight.

Guess we did about two dozen. All are still working to best on my knowledge, and I've heard no negative press from the guys.

Good question

I have wondered that myself. I think it's a good bet!

After all, if you have no red dot... the next best thing (if not the best thing) is a highly visible front sight. ....

Just think about that. .... and go for it ;)
