Triple K mags (what's the consensus)?

I passed by Cabelas on the annual pilgrimage to my folks' place for Xmas and got sucked in. :) While there, I saw some plain-Jane 7rd 1911 mags on sale for $14 so I bought one. It's the TripleK 25M model. So I got home today and gave it a try. The quality is REALLY rough. Loading it is very tight...I'll need to take a file to the inside of the lips and de-burr it. It also failed to feed the first couple of rounds, but now seems OK. Never had a FTF before with numerous ammo types in my Para Expert with the factory mags.

Did I get a bad example or is this simply a case of "ya git what ya pay fer"? :)

Best,

p.s. They seemed to have plenty of powder on the shelves (in Hamburg PA location) for those of you that reload. Supply must be catching up to demand.

That does indeed appear (from the photo and by reputation) to be a better deal. Thanks for the link!

Best,

I would not buy a Triple K for a common gun like a 1911, there are too many better brands.
But Triple K sells mediocre magazines for a lot of guns that you just can't find anyplace else.

What Jim said,,,

Triple K was the only place that still had mags for an old Mossberg 340-KC,,,
Granted it's just a bolt-action .22 rifle but the mag works fine.

I was deliriously happy to find a spare.

I have 10 mags that came with a Kahr purchase. They all work well and have never caused a problem. In some ways they are better than the original Kahr mags, in some ways worse.

I'll be buying some Triple K mags for my recently acquired Beretta 70 in .32acp since I don't really have another choice unless I constantly scrounge gun shops and online for factory mags that will most likely be $100+ each.

Those are Triple K magazines and I've read a lot of negative reviews about ammoclip.com. I'm just going to buy them directly from Triple K themselves.

I probably have a dozen or more Triple K magazines and I have no complaints. Every magazine I bought from Triple K was guaranteed to function or your money back. That seems fair to me especially since I have never had to return one. YMMV

Absolutely correct. Triple K are JUNK. Purchased 2 for a VIZ (Radom) P-35 to the tune of $80. Both mags would not work/function. So I sent them back. Between shipping both ways and a BS restocking fee it cost me $30 to find out that Triple K sells inferior mags.

Do yourself a favor and heed my advice/comment above on Triple K mags

Beretta 70 owners have had decent luck with Triple K, some have not. The problem is there is no other choice for my Beretta 70 in 32acp other than factory. Factory mags are almost non-existent or $100+ if someone finds one. I recently purchased the 70 without knowing the magazine situation, so it's either buy a Triple K and Wolff spring suggested to me on the Beretta forum or have one single factory mag that I'll reload over and over until it eventually fails. I would not even consider Triple K if MecGar or some other quality mag company was making them, but there isn't.

Their mags are a crap shoot...sometimes you win and sometimes not. I have found the game to be stacked in the latter catagory. If a guy has a pistol that no mags are available for, sometimes you can get by with one of the KKK's with a little manipulation.

I bought a Triple K magazine for my Colt 1908 .380 a couple of years ago and it looks, fits and works just fine. Not cheap at $38, but a lot cheaper than an original and more importantly, available.

For a more common production gun like a 1911, I think I would look for a higher grade manufacturer with a known good product and terms.

I purchased four triple k mags for a FI Model D, I received two and two were backordered. The two I received were wrong and would not fit, this was after going into great detail with them to insure I would not get the wrong ones. Sent them back, finally got two BO mags which the floor plates cracked and one came apart while loading for the first time. Used super glue...after six months and numerous email I received the exchange mags. I would load any of the four only when I saw the white of the enemy's eyes to keep the mags from self destruction with ammo in them. A used pistol I purchased came with a new single stack 9mm mag. Second loading at the range the spot welded floorplate popped off and ammo went everywhere. I am not happy with Triple K Magazines.
