Trijicon?

there not a daylite sight!!!!! If you want something that is going to glo during all light levels get yourself the TRU_GLO TFO"S there the best glo in bright day light evening and just as bright as trijicon @ night!!!

Ditto to the above post.

I like the ones I have on my Sig.

When I get my next sig, if it don't already have Trijicon's, I'll order some and put on it.

Its been my experience that Meprolights have a bigger vial and larger, brighter, white ring around the vials, which are easier to see in daylight. I've replaced a number of sets of Trijicons now with them.

I have Trijicon's on my FNP-40. They work awesome at night! In the daylight they look and function just like a standard 3-dot sight. No, they do not glow during daylight, but personally I wouldn't want anything that did. To me anything that did that would be too bright at night.

I always throw this in when the subject of night sights comes up: I have found that the most useful feature of the tritium night sights is that I can easily find my gun in absolute darkness, and because of the 3-dot system, I know exactly how to position my hand on it first time.

Are you looking for something that actually glows in the daytime or just keeps the same color?

Can't imagine having a ccw without Trijicon night sights.

They are fantastic for low light shooting.

Day time they are same as standard white 3 dot sights.

Necessary? No
Nice to have? Yes
Worth the xtra $$ yes
Better than others? Yes
Buy em again? Yes
Recommend them? Yes

Love my Trij's! They have a white ring around the end of the tube that looks like a plain 3-dot in the daytime. I'm thinking of painting it fluorescent orange.

I also like the Hi-Viz, too. Not tritium, but fluorescent that glows in ANY ambient light. Much cheaper and almost the same effect.

I can say that I do not have trijicons on my handguns. I do have a set of tru glo on my bow and they are awsome in low light, and incredible in daylight, and come in a variety of colors so I can mark different ranges with my sight pins. I would love to be able to afford a set for my M&P. I used Phoshoglo paint on my sights for my Bersa 45 works great if they get 5 minutes of light they will glow all night.

I am trying to find something to replace a factory front sight on a ruger sp101. The factory front sight is too dark. Several people have suggested a red or green fiber optic front sight from Gemini customs. I also ran across the Trijicon night sight option and was just curious. I would not be getting a three-dot system - just a single dot through the factory rear sight. If it would appear white during the day, that would probably be just as good as the red or green fiber optic and much better than the dark factory sight. Plus, it would have the added benefit of the night sight function.

The fiber optic sights are nice. They provide pretty good visuals during the day and in low light situations. Once it starts getting dark though they dissappear. The fiber optic sights are probably also gonna be cheaper. Trijicon's are usually around $100, but I think that's for both front and rear. Don't know what the single front would cost.

My suggestion is that if you have the money and think you might need this gun at night, go for the trituim night sights. If this is just a range gun or something, save the money and go with the fiber optic sight.

Ive yet to have any issues with my trijicon sights regardless of lighting. Love em to death and plan on adding them to other handguns in the future.

Money isn't an issue here. I consider this to be my primary HD/SD option, so there is the possibility of it being used at night. I actually have started traveling on the road some at night also. Sounds like the Trijicon or Meprolight is the way to go then.

Specific to the SP101........

The Trijicon looks just like the factory sight during the day. No dot, no nothing, just a black blade.

At night it has a tiny pinpoint green dot that is visible.

The Meprolight looks like a white dot front during the day and at night has a much larger/brighter green dot visible.

Of the two, the Meprolight is the better product IMO, at least when it comes to the SP101.

Night sights are an oxymoron to me. The small window when they may be effective is in twilight and that doesn't last long. I don't rely on them during night time. I do have and trust Trijicons for HD/SD. Tru-Glo would be on the bottom of my list if at all. If I had to choose Tru-Glo or have standard sights, I'd choose standard every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Have no experience with Meprolight, but I love my Trijicon sights. I have used them a couple of times for night fire on private property and love them. When they are on my night stand they make my feel far more comfortable.

It has been my experience that the world is rarely ever really dark, unless one lives in the boonies.

Twilight lasts from sundown to sunup here in the world of pavement and mercury vapor, at least anyplace I'd bother going at night. I haven't been in many parking lots that were so dark I couldn't see the sights at all, but I've been in plenty that were dim enough to make tritium a valuable aid to rapid acquisition of the front sight.

"Over 80% of fighting firearms use is low light environments" quoted from Combat Handguns. Why not give yourself every opportunity available? Just because a street light is behind you doesn’t mean you might have a better sight picture or not. But, I have no LEO or military background just an avid reader, shooter, and (when I can afford it) collector.
