Trijicon RMR -vs- Leupold Deltapoit?

Want to mount an optic on a Glock 40 long-slide 10mm.
Will be my woods & rivers gun, plus non-competitive range fun.
Narrowed my search down to these two similar models.
Appreciate input from anyone with experience using both.

Thanx, Dave.

PS - Which reticle size/shape do you prefer, and why?

I got the Leupold after looking them both over...

Reasons:
The Leupold has MUCH clearer brighter glass.

Much bigger field of view.

Easier to change batteries.

The main thing though is the glass clarity.... The Trijicon is a blue/green looking glass, that won't be good for deer/hog/bear hunting in the early morning light.

The Trijicon is a good optic, but it is not a hunting optic.

My G40 is a hunter, nothing more, nothing less.

2.5 moa dot, I'm a minimalist with hunting reticles...less is more.

Also, I'm not putting tall sights on it... They would interfere with seeing the intended target on a holdover shot...a 150 yard target for example, with my load that requires a 13" hold over, with suppressor sights they would block the view of the target.

As mine is set up, I can bang on 12" x 12" steel plate at 150 yards easy as pie.... And I can do it while being able to see the target.

Thanx for the replies, Guys!

I've already got a set of Trijicon tall tritium suppressor sights, since I'm more likely to need mine @ 15 yards, rather than 150. I carry rifles for hunting. This is for hiking, mt biking, fishing, canoeing, etc.

I'm planning to get the larger sized reticle, due to the defensive utility I'm looking for, but, I'd appreciate any input on that topic, too.

Thanx again, Dave.

I own both. A recent edition delta point and a rmr from about 3 years ago.

As stated the main difference is the deltapoint battery lid is accessible without completely unmounting the optic. It annoys me on the rmr to put in a fresh battery I can't be certained it still zeroed afterward.

I got the Dual Illumination which doesn't require batteries.

A Vortex Venom uses a top battery compartment.

Compared the DeltaPoint and RMR at Cabela's since both were on sale at nearly equal price. As was stated earlier, the DeltaPoint was brighter, wider & clearer, and I couldn't imaging having to dismount my sight, just to change the battery, so, I chose the DeltaPoint. The demo model at Cabela's had the 2.5moa dot, but, I bought a 7.5moa triangle reticle model in an shrink-wrapped box. Wanted the fastest, not the most precise sighting system.

When I opened it at home and installed the included battery, the triangle looked a little canted to the left. But, I mounted it on my G40 and took it to the range for testing, anyway. Maybe it would shake itself straight? Nope! And I found myself constantly trying to level the reticle, and thus canting the pistol (gangsta style).

Returned it to Cabela's and asked for another 7.5moa triangle model. But, this time, I asked to open the box and check the reticle - it was canted, too! Decided to take a 2.5moa model home, since I don't think that a round dot can be canted. And when I turn the brightness UP, it's very easy to see quickly.

Thanx for all your help, Guys!

OK, now I'm really getting frustrated with Leupold!

Now, that I finally had a non-canted DeltaPoint Pro, I decided to mount my Trijicon "suppressor" night sights, as back-up irons that co-witness.

WRONG !!! The DeltaPoint body is too tall for even suppressor height sights! The Trijicons suppressor sights are really tall, but, they are completely below the DeltaPoint body, let alone tall enough to allow the rear sight notch to be visible! What was Leupold thinking???

I understand that Leupold offers an add-on rear sight (at extra $$) that attaches to the back of the DeltaPoint body, and it is high enough to see "through" the glass. This was probably done, because the typical DeltaPoint mounting system (more extra $$) uses the rear sight dovetail of most pistols as its base. This is not necessary with pistols that already have a dedicated base-plate for optics, like Glock's MOS. But, even if I buy the DeltaPoint add-on rear sight that is taller than the Trijicon suppressor rear sight, I will then need a new front sight that is even taller than Trijicon's suppressor front sight to match it. And Leupold doesn't sell any matching front sights!

Does such a suppressor-PLUS height front sight even exist??? Again, what was Leupold thinking??? No wonder it was discounted 33%

I have multiple Leupold scopes on all of my rifles, but, this reflex sight is going back to Cabela's . . . . . to be exchanged for a Trijicon RMR!!!

That RMR sale at Cabelas is very tempting. I have a Glock 20, so I would have to send my slide into be milled along with whatever optic I was going to use. Not sure what im going to do at this point. I dont like the idea of having to take optic off to change the battery, but then again every few years isnt so bad..

I have the R1 Enhanced stainless and it has run flawless but I am trying to sell it, maybe it makes me un-American but I just am not a huge 1911 guy. I love their looks but I shoot my Tupperware guns much better.
