triggers

My dad has this old Charter Arms .38spl snubbie that just sits in his closet. I remembered he had it today so I dusted it off and fondled it, dry-fired it a couple of times and WOW.

The single action trigger pull is nice! I cleaned it up, oiled it and went to the range. It reminded me of why I never bring it out. I can't hit crap with it. After about 10 yards they're not called groups anymore. But I absolutely loved the way the trigger broke, even though I was just missing horribly.

Now I'm wondering if revolvers usually have better trigger pulls than semi-automatics because this gun is by no means a looker. It looks like it needs TLC etc.

On most revolvers, the trigger engages the hammer directly in single action. No take up, no trigger bar, no separate sear, no disconnector, no magazine safety. If the design is good, the SA trigger pull can be excellent, right out of the box.
