Trigger pull length on the S&W Shield.

Havent had the opportunity to see one in person yet. My question is in reguards to the length of the trigger pull. I had a Bodyguard and sold it as the trigger length was ridiculously long. Trigger had to almost hit the rear of trigger guard before it would break. Hows the Shield?

The trigger on the Shield is a defensive trigger with a nice, short reset. The trigger will break-in at about 400-500 rounds (when I noticed a difference and have heard the same). I've been concealed carrying for 35+ years now, and I'd have to say the Shield has been my favorite EDC during that entire period.

The trigger on the Bodyguard is part of its safety. Plus, the BG has a second strike capability. If you get very aggressive with the gun, you can fire it defensively very well. It will suck a big one if you try to "target shoot" the BG380. If you hated the BG, the LCP is worse.

The Shield has a much shorter trigger pull length than the Bodyguard. The Shield trigger is comparable to a standard M&P trigger.

What RW downing said, the trigger is quite controlable with a super short reset that I like a lot. I have used a kydex IWB holster and the pistol disappears under a shirt. The Shield is incredibly accurate for a pistol this size and is vying with my Sig P 938 for every day use.

My GF just bought the shield. It startled me on the first shot because I was expecting a double action type trigger. It doesn't take much at all. I like it. Very accurate gun.

Went ahead and ordered the PC Shield. Nice fiber optic sights , enhanced trigger and porting. Looking forward to getting it.

I disagree that a Shield or Glock trigger can really be considered long.

IMHO the CW9 trigger length is comparable to many DAO hammer-fired pistols from a variety of gunmakers (e.g. SIG P250, Beretta 92D, S&W M5946), along with most DA/SA or DAO wheelguns.

The Shield, M&P, and Glock triggers are substantially shorter than this, and IMHO can only be considered long when compared to a purpose-designed SAO pistol (e.g. 1911) or the SA stage of a DA/SA revolver.

Karmaden, when you make up your mind you go first class. I have looked at the PC but it was already purchased, it certainly has some really nice features that my shield does not sport. Give us a range report when you fire it particularly if the vents truely keep the muzzle down and if they cause a blast that the closed slides do not have. You have all the individual opinion of other Shield shooters ( i assume if someone is posting expertise they have fired the weapon) so now we would like yours .

If you think the Shield and Glock's have the longest trigger pulls on the planet then you really need to expose yourself to more guns because it's not even close.

Got a call from the store yesterday. The PC Shield came in but S&W screwed up and sent a .40 cal instead of the 9mm that I ordered. Now back to waiting again......NUTS!!
