Trigger Pin Question

I just put the new lighter spring in my Ruger 77 MkII and it is much better. My question is.... when I went to "knock" out the pin holding the trigger on it was loose and slid right out. Put it back together and it seems to stay without moving but am I supposed to take a sharp punch and "peen" a little spot on both sides by the pin to kind of "lock" it in place? Like I said, I put the punch on to tap it out and just the pressure of the punch against it pushed it out. Maybe it stays in when put in the stock?

The trigger housing fits into a grove in the inleting that wil keep the pin from falling out, so don't wory about it. You would probably have a hard time peening it flat, that pin is extremely hard. If you are concerned, use a sharp prick punch on the housing itself to lock the pin in place.
