Trigger on a Charter Arms

I'm interested in hearing what the trigger is like on the current production Charter Arms revolvers. From what I can tell, they only make one type of frame, so I assume all the triggers are similar. (I'm interested in a .357/.38)

Please don't start fighting about whether Charter Arms makes a good gun. Also, please don't tell me to save my money and buy something else. I have several guns, one of which is a great 4" S&W Model 10.

I'm not opposed to buying a gun just to see what it's like, and I like the story of the Charter Arms company and wouldn't mind supporting them.

That being said, I'm not buying a gun with really bad trigger. I've shot a snub Taurus in .38 and the DA was not usable. It seemed like it was 20 lbs, no joke. It was like cracking a walnut with one finger.

I pretty much only shoot in DA, so I don't really care about the SA either.

So basically, what's the trigger pull weight roughly? Does it stack? Is it at all mushy? What are the triggers like physically (smooth, serrated, wide, skinny)? Or do they make a variety of different styles?

Also, I'd appreciate any comparisons to other guns. Is it like a Ruger trigger, a certain model of Taurus, maybe like a Glock or a small DA pistol like a Kel-Tec?

The main reason I'm asking here is that the two gun shops I frequent don't carry Charter. I'd have to ask them to ship one in just for me to try.

In a word, my Bulldog's trigger is good. Not spectacular, but comparable to many other small revolvers. Not too heavy, not rough or gritty at all, and a little bit of stacking but not much.

I bought mine used, so it may have required some breaking in to get to this point. But in its present state I can't complain.

The only Charter I've ever fired is my .44 Bulldog... My sentiments concur with Crazy88. It's not a S&W but does the job... It's as good as my Ruger SP101's trigger... maybe a little better... Don't know the pull weight.

Not wide, not narrow... average. The trigger edges are squared off so a little harsh (but can always be filed a bit, I suppose, which I needed to do on my even-sharper SP101).

The man who founded Charter and did the majority of their original design work was a former Ruger engineer. I believe the guts of the two guns are similar. I would expect them to have similar trigger pulls when cleaned up/worn in.

Also they make at least two different frame sizes. The .44 bulldog and .38 police undercover use the larger frame with 5 and 6 shots respectively. I believe the 5 shot .38s and .357s all use variants of the smaller frame size.
