Trigger Job Ruger Speed Six

I want to buy spare extra parts and try to do my own trigger job (smooth and light) on my Speed Six. Does anyone have any pointers.

Got the catalog. Looking for advise on doing the tune up.

Just keep shooting it. The trigger on my Security Six 1974 vintage is really smooth. As good as any Smith I have tried.

Polish the little round part on the top of the strut that passes through the sping to decrease friction against the hammer and put a bit of graphite on it then polish the edges of that strut too to decrease friction from the spring rubbing on it. Neither will lighten the pull but they will make it smoother. Then if you must lighten it get a bullseye spring kit. These tips will also work on the GP-100, and Blackhawk single actions.

Wolff makes a nifty lighter weight spring kit for the Securty/Speed Sixes main and trigger return springs. they lighten the pull weight and seem to smooth the action by giving an even spring pressure through out the trigger pull.
A LOT of shooting will smooth up a Speed Six as much as most trigger jobs. i had one many moons ago that was a police trade in and it had many thousands of rounds thru it. it was butter smooth with the Wolff spring kit. a friend offered me more than it was worth one afternoon and it was gone. regretable!
my new Speed six carries the same type Wolff spring kit and has been internally polished by Greensboro Gun Works. it is the near equal of my old Ruger. with enough rounds i will be stirring butter with my trigger again.

My Speed Six is a Liberty Model issued to the DE State Police in 1976 and has thousands of rounds trough it. I want to lighten the trigger for Mrs. Gunfighter. Thanks for the Wolff info.

Kuhnhausen has an excellent book out on these. I agree, however, that constant use will smooth them up a lot. My first one, a Service-Six was very slick. Still have it--and pick up any of these guns I find lying around.
