trigger job for Bushy?

I love my Bushmaster Shorty but the trigger needs to be changed. Have read lots of posts which seem to indicate that many of you concur.

So the big question is. Can I do the job myself or do I need a gunsmith. If any of you have done it yourself (and you're not a gunsmith) :) please let me know how it is done.

Thanks,

sks

There is a drop-in solution.

A company called "JP" or "JG". I am sure someone here knows the particulars.

It's the JP Enterprises hammer/trigger combo. You'll get a single-stage, creepless pull of around 3# or so.

If you want a two-stage, then get the Jewell or Compass Lake.

JP's and Jewells are available through Midway. JP is also available through Brownell's.

I've installed four or five of the JP sets, with no difficulties; I'm not a gunsmith.

sks,

I have the same dilemma. The Bushmaster is a fine rifle, but those milspec triggers are abyssmal. I just ordered today a single-stage trigger from Accuracy Speaks. The folks over at AR-15.com give this company high marks, and since it will be used for tactical competitions, I decided on the single-stage over the 2-stage. I have been assured that installation is simple, and even a newbie like myself with no gunsmithing experience can do it myself.

sks and rock-jock, This is not territory that you want to enter unless you have found out that drop in means the same thing as plug and play not considering the legal implications if you should have an AD I am not a gunsmith but rather a hobby gunsmith so I speak with no qualification other than 30 years of experiance in the field. The last Accuracy Speaks trigger that I installed in a Bushmaster got to doubling after it got a little dirty!
No problem because I was testing on a very safe private tract of land with all safety insured and not in a tactical match. Be cool but safe
Good Shooting,
Hank

Thanks, Hank. I'll certainly be careful and if I have any trouble installing it, I'll give Eric @ Accuracy Speaks a call. Not standing behind your product in this small, fairly tight-knit community can be very bad for a business. News travels fast over these forums.
