Trigger job cost?

I have a '68 Browning BAR 30-06, just started shooting it again and having fun. Never realized how crappy the trigger is! I feel I can shrink my groups in half by changing the trigger. Probably averaged 1.5" groups today using a 2.5-6 power scope at 100yds.

Before I start calling around, I was hoping to get a ball park idea of how much to expect.

I've never had a trigger job done. I've polished and cleaned them up myself, but the only money I would spend on a trigger would be the $100 or so a good Timney costs. I think its better to just replace with a high quality trigger, but thats just my preference.
 
Condidering the cost of a high quality replacement trigger available from many sources, against the quality level of a "trigger job" done by local "gunsmiths" and the down side of trigger jobs being ADs etc. My opininon is to spend the $ to get a replacement.

Don't know if this will help or not, but I had just had a trigger job done on my Ruger M77 .30-06 and it is amazing the difference. It cost me $35 and it was the best $35 I have ever spent.

I know you're talking about a '68 Browning BAR, just my .02 worth...
 
Thanks for the responses, I had thought about a replacement, but didn't think there was one for this old gun. I am always up for do it yourself projects also, just didn't want to screw anything up right now.

I just had the same Ruger 77 Mark II done and the price was $25, 3 lb. pull and no creep!!!
 
remington model five trigger

Any one knows how to fix a remington model five trigger. Or any want know its mechanism?

I also have the M77, took it to the local gunsmith and costed me $35. I asked the guy if I could watch, he said I couldn't figure it out how but figured out that he shorten the spring pushing the trigger back a couple of coil. He figured it is around 7lbs pull. He wouldn't recomend going lower cause cold finger or a bump could easily set it off. Not sure of the Browning thou...
