Trigger Guards

Hi, I was wondering if trigger guards are required by law. I know manufacturers are required to put them on but are we required to keep them? My M6 scout was originally designed without so it could be fired with mittens but the civy version has one... I don't want it.

Not required by Law, but highly advised.

Seconded.

I agree. They serve an important purpose, even though they make hunting with gloves tough. One has to use modified gloves or mittens.

In addition to the obvious safety issues, I think they also protect the trigger itself from getting bent or broken off. It seems this reliablity factor might be an important consideration in a scout rifle.

Using a hacksaw is legal, but there is a ton of legal responsibility in case of "Oops!"

If it were a major problem for me, I'd get with a good metalsmith and make the guard larger such that a gloved finger would fit properly. Doing without the guard does not impress me as to the smarts of the user.
