Trigger group pin walking out on my Mossberg 500..

So I decided to take my Mossberg 500 12 gauge out dove hunting... Everything was great until I started shooting a good amount once the birds starting flying... The trigger pin fell out and the trigger group fell out of the gun.. Luckily I caught the trigger group before it fell into the sand... Finding the pin in the top of the sand dune I was shooting on was interesting to say the least... After cleaning the pin and putting the trigger group back in and reinserting the pin, I starting shooting again and the pin walked out a second time... But I caught it before it fell completely out the second time... Is there anything that retains the pin in a Mossberg 500.. This is my first mossberg and I only have experience with Remington and Winchester pumps... I've never had a problem with the pin in my range sessions, shooting up to four rounds of skeet.. So I'm at a loss why the pin is falling out with ammo that isn't any hotter than what I use for skeet... Thanks!!!

"So I'm at a loss why the pin is falling out..."

I'm guessing that you are missing what Numrich calls the "Trigger Housing Pin Retaining Spring," listed as part #60 in their online catalog ("product #54820A). If you notice, there is a circular groove cut into your trigger housing pin, and the spring rests in that groove to keep it from walking.

Here is the link: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=11934, but shows as sold out.

You may have to contact Mossberg for the part. They will probably send it to you for nothing.

Or the channels in the pin are dirty or someone bent the spring to exert less pressure where it is needed perhaps. Maybe try "opening" the spring a tad for more pressure before you replace it if you were going to buy a new one anyway...
