I just picked up a #1B in .204 Ruger for future PD extermination, and it came w/ a heavy trigger. Is the trigger-pull user-adjustable via a screw, or is it something I'll need a gunsmith to change?
Older Ruger No.1s and all the No.3s had a couple allen head screws in the trigger, so were user adjustable. Don't know about the new ones, but if your trigger doesn't have screws, then it's not easily adjustable. I think Ruger changed it a few years back to either an inside the action adjustment, or none (except by gunsmithing).
My No.1 has the screws, but its older, blued, and .375 H&H.
Hopefully someone who knows more will be along soon....
No, the trigger on a #1 is not user adjustable beyond the mostly ineffective trigger spring tension screw. Get a gunsmith to fix it. Someone used to make an aftermarket trigger for the #1, but I can't remember who.
Kepplinger, that's the one I was trying to remember! Thanks jaguarxk120! Moyer is a drop-in replacement, pretty nice triiger. BTW, Canjar is no longer in business, and AFAIK their triggers are no longer available (anyone have info to the contrary?).
