I have one of each of these and have 2 or 3 extra cylinders for each. I have heard alot of people descussing Treso nipples but I am not sure it would be worth spending the money replacing so many of them. At The Possibles Shop
http://www.possibleshop.com/s-s-nipples-cb.html
They have :
Revolver-6x.75mm - 6 Nipples $31.95
Fits Pietta Pistols

so that would be like close to $200 for replacements.
I guess I am trying to understand what kind of improvement I would see.

Also, Do both the Pietta Rem 1858 and Colt 1860 take the same exact length of nipple?
Thanks for any help

You read that wrong. Six nipples are about $30.00.
Treso is, and has been for a long time, a highly regarded brand of nipples. Excellent quality.
If you need them, buy them. If you don't need them, don't buy them

I believe he is talking about replacing nipples in 6 cylinders. That would be 6X31.95 that's 191.70 + shipping or right at $200.

The Treso part number for the 6x0.75 threaded nipple that fits both the Pietta 1860 Army and 1858 Remington New Army is 11-50-10. The overall length is approximately 0.520". Treso also makes another 6x0.75 threaded nipple, 11-50-03, that's quite a bit longer: 0.600"; be sure you get the right one.

Treso nipples have two advantages over other brands. First, they have a much smaller flash channel which produces a more concentrated jet of gas, resulting in a more reliable main charge ignition. Second, they're made of a proprietary bronze alloy called Ampco; it's much harder and resists both gas cutting (thus keeping the flash channel from eroding) and damage from the hammer face. In my experience Ampco bronze is superior to even stainless steel in both those areas.

36 stainless steel nipples @ $4 each will cost about $145 plus shipping; the Ampco bronze will be about $50 more, not really all that bad for 36 nipples. I think they're worth it and have both replaced and spared the nipples on all my guns with Ampco bronze.

Treso nipples

Wow MYKEAL I just put Treso's on my Pietta 1860. The part number is 11-50-106. Is there a 3rd number or did they change their numbering system. My last trip to the range I thought the nipples were long.

Depends on where you bought them. Some sutlers modify the Treso part number to create their own catalog or stock number. Others will package 6 nipples together and add a '6' at the end to create a catalog number for the package. In that latter instance 11-50-106 would indicate a package of 6 11-50-10 nipples.
