treestand skirts? are they worth it?

I never could stand the wind blowing up my legs when wearing a tree stand skirt....

Sorry, obviously self-restraint is not my strong suit...

On the serious side, I absolutely hated tree stand hunting when I was doing it - seemed like I was always frozen into a block of ice and I never master the sneaky draw (bow) or the sneaky rifle aim. A skirt around the stand might help that.

Hopefully some guys that use tree stands all the time can provide some input.

I hunt out of a treestand 95% of the time I deer hunt. I love to use the skirts, they provide you so much more concealment and freedom of movement than you would have without one. I would give it a try. They are worth the hassle, and major brand will hold up just fine

I have one on my stands. Helps break the silouhette and hide movement, particularly when the ole feet go to sleep or otherwise need moving. I have several ladder stands with skirts. I leave the skirt a little long so i can raise my shooting rail. On the model i use, the front shooting rail can be raised up to allow for bow hunting. So, when I raise it while rifle hunting the skirt gives me almost total concealment.

I used to use one, for the reasons above. In my location, what I found was a numbe of deer would look up at me. The skirt was camo, but I think the fact that from the ground it took an unnatural "block" out of the sky, if you can understand that.

Anyway, I used it for two seasons, than canned it.

I hunt in hilly, semi-mountainous woods. I have found I do better from the tree when my back is against it. I think it reduces my silouhette.

I use and rely on them and deffinately can tell a difference because they seem to get a little closer and come out into the open more than ever. Also, like mentioned before it really helps break up whatever stand you are using.

I like to use them, but I am in an area that my stand stays up year around, so after the deer see the skirt blowing in the wind for a while, they get used to it, and it doesn't bother them.
If you are going to hunt an area, and you put your stand up the night before the hunt, I think the deer would come closer to being leary of them, because of the sudden change to their enviroment.

I try to get all my new stands up for at least a month before season, so that there is nothing different to them opening day, but in some states or property, it is not legal to leave your stands up.

Just an after thought, but I tried it this year and it works great.
My wife got rid of our fake green X-mas tree last year, and I saved all the branches from it. I used them on a stand this year for camo, and they work really well. I don't know how long it will take them to rot out in the wilderness, but they make about as good a natural camo as I have ever used.
