Travelling to AL from VA

I'll be in Alabama (Huntsville) for 4 days, driving there, flying back.

I have a FL and VA permit. Is it worth the hassle to bring my sidearm, especially as I'll be flying back? Do you have to be a Florida resident to have AL reciprocity?

I don't think Florida residencey is required, just a Florida issued permit/license.

According to this website, Alabama recognizes Florida's permit, resident or not. This site does say when a state requires you to be a resident of the state the permit is from, but it does not say it is required for Alabama and Florida

Alright, what's the best way to get my gun back to me from AL as I'll be flying? Someone mentioned I can ship it FedEx directy to my house, but I'm skeptical on that.

Why not put it in your luggage?

I'm pretty sure it has to be cased and locked. Kinda silly as I'll just be taking my KelTec or something.

I'd rather my gun was in a locked box so the luggage handlers can't get their pilfering mitts on it. I think you just have to show it at check in...or you may not even have to...just declare it and see what they say. Better than it getting beat and banged around..and hopefully finding its way home in the mail system. IMO.

Thanks guys, I did a little more reading up and I'll put my P11 in a Pelican box and declare it at the United checkin. I will report back tuesday to let everyone know how it went.
