Traveling from TX to AL

I’m traveling from Texas to Alabama to a buddies’ ranch, planning on doing a little shooting and such. I’m bringing a pistol and a rifle. Legally will I be ok as long as I keep them unloaded (obviously) and in the trunk?

Yes,

Federal law allows you to cross state lines like that.

You might want to check the traveling laws of LA and MS though. You might be able to have a loaded pistol or rifle in the front with you also... not sure.

If you need one or the other while in route, chances of being able to stop, get out, unlock the trunk, unlock the gun and load the same in time are pretty slim.....
