I bought a boat in Florida and want to transfer my guns and maybe some amo from Illinois to Florida to my boat. I'm talking (all legal) something like a semi-rifle, 2 handguns and 2 shotguns plus some amo. (NOT RELEVANT: I was warned about Panama and a few other places I would like to visit both of the violence and availability. I even considered getting something over there but why spend extra money and deal with importation after). I called the airlines but they are not sure of the facts other that they will transport unloaded guns in checked luggage. I hate flying in this situation especially even showing at O'Hare in Chicago (by the way Chicago has a ban on handguns that are not used for work) with the guns on me. Do I have any options? Is there a courier service that will do the transport for me? I was thinking about a one-way car rental but it is about $500 more (including gas and a night in a motel) than a cheap flight. (NOT RELEVANT: 7 years ago I worked with an engineer from Florida that had a contract in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago. The first day he tried to show up for work he was arrested in Libertyville for acknowledging of having his own handgun in the car at a "routine traffic stop". He was less than 24 hours in Illinois. He spent over 2 weeks and $2000 to clear that situation up.)
