Transfer procedures

I have never bought firearms from SGN or Gunlist or auctions. I am primarily interested in the guns posted on the net. How do I go about doing this? Do I contact the person and make a check payable, or money order, or credit? Then do I go to my ffl dealer and tell them? I'm lost. How do I get my money back if the gun was not as advertised?

Jetrecbn: I have bought 2 off the net. I bought them off www.gunbroker.com. One of them I had sent to my Uncle he has his FFL and the other locally. Usally on the web site they seller will put what type of payment they want. Money order getting the gun out next day and personal check will wait untill it clears. Up to the seller. About returning a gun, that to is something you would have to clear with the seller and I think to send it back it has to be done by a FFL holder, but I am not sure. If that is the case it can get costly, especially like where I live and the crooks charge a arm and a leg. If you are looking for someone new e-mail me and I can get you in contact with someone that won't rip you off and you will get a awesome product. Like right now he is selling new Olympic Arms AR's for 625. Cant beat that anywhere. Hope this clears up some of your questions.

Make arrangements with a FFL in your state to transfer the gun for you. He will need to send (no faxes) a signed copy of his FFL to the seller. The seller will then ship the firearm to your FFL after he receives payment. He is not required to go thru a FFL on his end.Your FFL will complete all paperwork for you just like he is selling you the gun. Transfer fee is usually $20. Make sure to discuss with the seller an inspection period after you receive the firearm. You may want to return it. If buyer and seller live in the same state they don't have to go thru a FFL . I have checked this procedure in the ATF regulations book and have done this several times myself. Hope this helps.
