transfer of ownership?

Recently I have found three guns that my grandfather owned when he was alive. They are a Browning Hi-power, Smith & Wesson 44 mag, and a Smith & Wesson .357 Highway patrolmen. How do I transfer ownership into my name. I have had the guns for years but forgot to have them transfered them into my name. My grandmother is still alive, so do i need to have her sign the tranfer forms. FYI - I live in california.

For God's sake, DON'T!

You have to turn them over to your local LEA, and then go through a bunch of CRAP. And if ONE THING is out of place, those guns are gone forever.

IMHO, ANYONE wanting to stay "legal" these days (by "registering" or crap like in KA), does NOT deserve to own firearms. Just turn them in at your local LEA. You'll be happy; they'll be happy (the cops'll have some collectible guns to add to their personal collections), and you won't get that 2 a.m. "knock" on your door.

I'm not talking to any particular person in this rant, just speaking "in general". Good luck, but if you're dumb enough to turn those guns over, well....

In your case, they have never been "papered", so you should be good to go. Or, I'll give you $50 each for them. That's more than the cops will give you when they steal them.
