Training with two guns

I started to think (uh-oh... :)) about how you guys shoot when taking two or more handguns to the range. Do you first shoot one gun, then, when you're finished with it, move on to a second gun, and so on, or do you switch between the two (or more)? Me, I shoot a few mags with the .22, a few with the 9mm... (I'm not sure it's really important how you do it. Just couldn't sleep too well today, so I thought I'd ask a silly question instead.)

Your time and bandwith has been wasted by: ( ;))

Tony,

When I go to the range to play, I usually grab 3 or 4 handguns. A .22 and 3 .45's :) I usually swap between all of them as the mood strikes me. I favor my H&K USP45F over my other .45's so consequently I shoot that one until the barrel needs to cool down and then move on to another.

For serious range time I stick to one firearm (USP45F) and drill and drill and drill. Making sure that I practice smart and not just throw large quantities of lead downrange.

I like to bring a rifle and a handgun and alternate.

Personally I like to grab one in each hand and empty them down range as I can pull the triggers, laughing manically at the top of my voice. BWAHHAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAAA

Generally I take two to three guns to the range, duty gun, match guns, whatever I have not shot in a while. Sometimes I will take two or three pistols, shotgun, and rifle.
I work with one gun until I am comfortable with it for the day, move to the next...
Anyone ever wonder why we take all that stuff to the range when it takes two or more trips from the house to the car and back again?

How many depends on how much time I have. I take two handguns if I'm time limited. Three if I have more time. I take all in different calibers. And sometimes I throw in a rifle or shotgun but only one long gun at a time.

As for firing frequency, I also switch off as the mood strikes me. But, I don't like to mix guns into one target. I like to see how I'm shooting one gun. I change targets everytime I change guns.

And, a little personal quirk. It's like eating: I always finish with what I like the best. For me, it's a Kimber Compact.

IMO, you should always try to finish your session by shooting your main carry piece. Two to three more mags or cylinders worth. Then, it will be the most 'fresh' in your mind if you should have the unfortunate need to use it prior to your next range visit.

if i bring a .22 i usually start with that. then i shoot my 9mms and .45s. i will usually bring between 2-4 handguns and sometimes my AR-15, 10/22 or a shotgun.

if i have a competition comming up in the next few days i will only shoot the guns i will shoot at the match as to not confuse myself and to practice the most with them.

usually i bring 1-2 glocks and a beretta. i mostly shoot the glocks and when i feel bad because my groups are too big i take out the beretta (with a really nice trigger job and other features that make up for my poor shooting :-)) and boost my self-esteem a bit. i usually shoot about 50 rounds with each gun and then switch guns. i usually end with whatever gun i'm shooting best that day so i can walk out of there feeling like i shot well today.

shiroikuma, I'd like to do that too. But with two Walther P99's. I don't have the money to buy the second one. Plus, I do think they have some sort of a rule against manical laughter at the range I go to... :p (Hey, you're not even allowed to shoot your .22LR rifle at the same range as your 9mm handgun, "because".)
