trail Camera

Mostly just venting...

Had a good Moultrie trail camera stolen from my property this weekend. I've been hunting this area for 10+ years and have only had people come in a handful of times/never had items taken. I had a trail camera set up in about the center of 80 or so acers of private land watching a feeder to see what we have for deer so far this year. Went up to change the SD card Saturday evening and no camera, just some cut string.

Aside from shooting trespassers :) , any thoughts on securing a camera? What do you guys who hunt on public land do?

i built a metal box with a hinged lid that locks at the bottom and then welded a piece of chain on each side and use another lock to attach it to the tree, only downfall was it is heavy but nobody has even attempted stealing it gotta alot of pictures of peepers though

Hunt and track, instead of baiting and waiting... :D

No offense intended. I understand the circumstances are different. But, the population density of Ohio was created by the greed of man. So, I have to poke a little fun.

When I lived in Florida, I hunted on limited access public land (Air Force base). I weighed the odds, and decided not to use any baiting methods or cameras (too many ***holes that would prey on my expense). So, I decided to hunt and track.

This is why more and more private land is not open to the public for hunting or fishing. Jerks!!!!

Bring them to South Florida, we have plenty of sharks and gators that have to eat something.....

I hate trespassers and thieves with a passion. Have had ladder stands, hang on stands, etc stolen from my place in northern michigan. They've climbed up and taken hooks screwed into the tree for hanging bows and binocs. I'm certain a trail camera wouldn't last so ive never used them. And you know its locals doing it, supposedly a better breed of human than those from the city.
