Hope to pick a Traditions Tracker 209 45 cal later today if UPS gets them to my local dealer.
Any advice as to loads (powder/charge - bullet)???
Got my muzzleloader stamp, doe tag and a bonus tag and am going out Saturday.
Have a Thompson Hawken 54 cal Flintlock. Dr Alt's new early 'muzzleloader' season for doe here in PA gave me an excuse for a new toy!!!

Hodgdon's newish Triple 7 shoots well in the Trackers I've tried. I like 120 grains. A load of two (100 grains) or three (150 grains) Pyrodex pellets isn't quite as accurate, but it's a lot more convenient (in the field) than loose powder.

The Hornady XTPs are good bullets, and inexpensive enough to use for lots of practice shooting. In a .45 rifle, I'd use a 180 or a 200 grain bullet. The 155 seems a bit light, unless you're shooting small deer. Standard sabots seem to do better than Power Belts in the Trackers.

Good hunting!

Mike
