How many of you guys got tricked by the photo they show on internet versus the China junk they send?? Photo shows brass and chrome on handle. What you get is flat black and river wood? Would like to hear as I'm taking them to the wood shed.:(frown, make that a big frown)

First of all....Welcome to the forum.

Nobody likes to feel as though they had been cheated but at least you didn't spend a lot of money on it.

You might could send it back for a refund, but two way shipping is probably as much as the cost of the press.

Sorry for your loss.

I use a press that I made but it doesn't look much like the Traditions press.

Not the $$$. Traditions left the photos of a stand they used to sell (2 years ago) when they got China junk and knew they could not move if actual photos were show. If photo had been true I would not have touched. My object is to keep this outfit from doing repeats with other products.

I wish you luck.

I am a little cynical today because of a conflict with a different group over customer service. Has nothing to do with shooting or Cap and Ball so I won't trouble anyone with it.

Anyway, this cynicism prompts me to look at your situation with a bit of sadness. I will be anxious to see what they do to make you happy.

But I am not holding my breath.

Is this the photo?

Delmar. You have it right. Nice photo at top is what they publish and send to other companies like Bass Pro, Gander, etc). Bottom photo is what they imported. (Midway is only one with correct pic). This was no oversight - they knew true photo would not sell as well). Note no brass, no chrome on handle, no wood finish, (mine was chipped and split), much shorter plunger, and black rubbed off. That's what I got and so did hundreds of other buyers. China dumped on them and they passed it on. Most photo's have been taken down over the past several weeks but the misrepresentation remains. Not looking for a fight with fellow writers BUT it is important when customers are mislead. What if this keeps going and we get China reproductions and big boy guns from the same source. Take a look a Made in China fishing lures or fishing reels (same brand name as before but quality gone). What I'm looking for is someone who got the loader in top photo. No one seems to have seen one?? It is not a Pietta!. Herb

Quite a difference in the quality between the products in the two photos. Stick to your guns herb . . . . you have every right to be ticked off. Unfortunately, it isn't just with gun related items . . . it's with just about everything. Not too long ago I purchased a wood leather stitching clamp from a well known leather supply company - I bought it because I needed it at the time and I am in AZ, unfortunately my woodworking tools are in MI - or I would have made it myself. It was the cheapest thing you could imagine plus the screw holes were countersunk on the wrong sides. The leather company accepeted it though and as a result, passes it on to their customers. We ship our jobs overseas and in turn, very little is made in this country anymore. God help us if we ever have to "tool up" for war production to the extent that the country had to during WW II. There are enough folks out there with machining experience and home shops that I'm really surprised that some of these products aren"t made by cottage industries here in this country. I'd rather pay more for something of quality that is going to last than have to buy a piece of "crap" that isn't going to hold up. Ted Cash is a good example of a cottage industry that makes good quality products - in the U.S. - and anyone who has used one of Ted's cappers or other products he produces, knows what I'm talking about. Plus, if there is a problem, he takes care of it.

herb . . . there is such a thing as "truth in advertising". I'd suggest you take the time to write a letter of complaint and send along photos to the State Attorney's Office in whatever state the supplier is located in. Might help . . . might not . . . . but then send a copy of the letter to the supplier as well. If nothing more . . . . it will probably make you feel better!

For those that don't think this is a "big deal" - maybe it isn't to you and that's fine. But the more "junk" that we allow to be the only thing marketed in this country, the more "junk" that will come in. Just remember that the next time you buy a hat that says "One Size Fits All" that wouldn't even fit you kid's head or when you slide on that hunting vest that is your size - an XL - that is cut the same size as a SM in an American made product. Chances are, when you look at the label, it won't be made in this country. That's alright though . . . . just slide into that heavy flannel shirt with the sleeves that are too short, take a shoe horn and put that vest and hat on and have a nice "comfortable" hunt. :D

You could not have said it better. FYI both Conn AG and FTC (ads were on internet) have said they will look at.:) In days of old when I was in Air Force the term was "Shack" when you scored a direct hit. Maybe a double shack for these guys?:)

Herb what did you pay for it ....I noticed Midway is selling one like you got for 13.00 ......I have one like in the top pic I paid 26.00 from DeerCreek Products not long ago .
I didn`t order the one from Midway because in their pic you can tell it is junk .

I paid $17.00 to Gander Mountain but they used nice picture in ad. Traditions sending me nice one which I think they got for Deer. That was the beef. Nice photo but you got the UGLY one. Herb

Sundance44s Is there more than one DeerCreek Products. Just took a look at internet and nothing but bad comments. Take a look,,,,you might have been luck. Herb

Deer Creek Products -

Yes, there are, or rather were, two. The one with the web site in Florida is out of business as I understand it. They were essentially a scam outfit. The 'real' Deer Creek Products in Waldron, IN has no web site nor email - they do business the old fashioned way, and they do it very, very well. Write down their phone number and keep it handy: PO Box 246 Waldron, IND. 46182 Ph#; 756-525-6181 .

Thanks for info about there bing two Deer Creeks. If traditions lets me down with what they are sending I'll give them a call.
