Trading up for an AR-15

Just recently, I got the idea of obtaining an AR-15. A guy at the local gun shop was hurting for money and decided to drop the cost of his DPMS flattop from $799 to $500.

Before my discovery, I had asked the owner what he would give me for a Beretta Elite II that I had obtained in an earlier trade with a friend. I like the Beretta, but I didn't "like" it like it. Of course, he told me $500, which was less than I wanted, but after seeing this nice AR, I couldn't resist.

So for an even swap, I obtained an AR-15. And since it wasn't worth much without sights, I bought an ATN 5X33 illuminated scope.

So this is my first AR-15 :D

Sorry the photo isn't clear, but I got the camera for free. I think there are better things (ammo, scopes, new guns) that one ought to spend their money on.

Just got it today. I had to go to work soon after I got it, so I was itching to get home.

Hopefully, if the weather stays nice and I get time over the weekend, I'll be able to see. I really want to get the scope sighted in.

I think you got a great deal too. Let us know how that scope works out. It's one that I've looked at, but never had the guts to buy. Just not convinced of it yet, but some positive feedback from forum members might encourage me some.

Next you'll need a truck load of ammunition, a suitcase of magazines and an upper in .50 AE! Look out, another junkie is born...

Oh Geez, you got took. I tink before you waste time buying ammo and extra mags you should just send it to me :p Then you would have more time to learn how to use the camera and would get some work done as well.
You did very well for $500 trade, that Beretta would have been gift wrapped if I were You.

I guess it was being at the right place at the right time. :D

Now, if I can only get some time and nice weather for the range...

And I do have Tromix on my favorites folder for awhile as I had been looking at different accessories for an AR for a long time. Unfortunately, the .50AE will have to wait (unless, of course, another deal comes along.)

.458 SOCOM and .475 TREMOR? I think they're pushing it a little too far..and I like it! I'm not sure I see me ever buying such an upper, unless of couse, I win the lottery!
