Traded a Bersa 380 for a Taurus model 85

Closing The Gap

I've never had a snub nosed revolver and saw someone looking to trade one for a Bersa. Since I traded a very old $100 tv for the Bersa(which I disliked anyway) I went ahead and made the trade(lgs was only offering $150 or so for the Bersa anyway).

I wanted to get one so I could really concentrate on my trigger pull. I figure or hope it will benefit my SA trigger pull with lots of practice on it. I'll let you know how it shoots when I hit the pit tomorrow. :)

Let me be the first to say " Taurus is junk.". I don't believe it but I saw a chance to be the first to say it. :D There will most likely be others. I have never had a problem with Taurus. I have never owned the 85 but may buy one because I miss shooting a snub 38Sp. I think you made a good trade, especially if you are happy with it.

I carried a first year SS 85 for 20 years. After I changed to kahrs I replaced the main spring in the 85 to a rp wolff main spring and that made for killer lite weight trigger of 2lbs sa and 4 1/2lb da pull but its also been very reliable for some years now. Hope your is nearly as good as mine and you will enjoy it.

heck, yeah, I'd do that trade, too.

My 605 (same thing in .357) has been very sound.

Any idea how old this 85 is? There have been a number of changes over the years.

Here's my stainless 85CH (circa early '90s). The boot grips are from Altamont.
