Traded .357 for .38 Special.

So, my roomie had recently traded his G19 for a G32 as his main CCW piece.

I had the new gun jones, and a G33, which would make a perfect companion to his G32.

I am now one G33 poorer and one 640 richer.

More details, please.

Is that a Performance Center model?

Just traded for a 640 myself, but mine's the two- and-an-eighth inch version. Mighty nice little carry piece when loaded up with Federal's lighter-weight hollowpoints.

It's an interesting gun.

The story that came with it is that it was a special order by a U.S. Customs agent.

It's a 2.75" tube (that is compensated Mr. Irwin, not "ported", as there is a counterbored expansion chamber ;) ); the front sight does not use a standard dovetail, rather the dovetail matches that of a red ramp insert; and at the bottom of the frame window, the frame is laser etched "TESTED FOR +P+".

The grips are Ahrend's cocobolo, and were added by my roomie.

I dunno. That extra hole up front looks like a gas port to me. :) But I guess everybody's gotta compensate for something...

Neat critter, Tam. Ya done good.

Sorta been working on sweet wife Warbunny to get sumpn like that, but she sez her Model 37 doesn't weigh her purse down so much.

Much stuff as she carries, she wouldn't notice a Redhawk!

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought "What the fu..dge has she done NOW??? Tradin' a .357 for a .38???"
'Course NOW I get it...traded a "sproinger" ( GLOCK ) for a REAL gun...a by-God Smith and Wesson revolver!!! Ya done GOOD!!!....mikey357

Yeah, notbubba, some of us trudge off through gloom, snow and ice to the gunstore or gunshow, to argue, fight and hassle with some curmudgeonly sort...Others just fix another cup of latte, sit back in comfort and do a deal.

Nice work if you can get it...

Gawd, Tamara......I'm drooling!

I've never had the pleasure of shooting one of those but somewhere, somehow, I will.

I'm 56 years old and a lot of us old farts LOVE our revolvers.

Maybe I'm crazy but there is nothing quite as thrilling as firing off a revolver in a semi-darkened indoor range with some high-pressure loads with all that noise, recoil and muzzle/gap flash.

WHOOPEEE.

Nice gun. Now, bein' that I'm jonesin' for a G-33, I don't think I would have traded, but that's obviously a biased opinion. I just think longer barreled J-frames look "funny". I've had ported/compensated guns in the past, and while they're nice for recoil control, if you need it, thier drawbacks of flash blinding in dark conditions made me choose against them.

Tam, keep me in mind when you get bored with that little item

I'll gladly go into hock to buy it off ya.

Hmmmm.... I figure if I pawn my 30-30, my 10/22, my Colt 22, and my Mod.10, I should be able to scrape up enough to buy it... then I'd have to hustle around, trying to get all the rest of the ol' arsenal back...

Better start saving now!
