Trade?

I have been looking to sell a s&w 642 thats 3 months old and has 300 rounds through it that was rated 98% by my local dealer. Today I got an offer trade that interested me and I'm wondering if I'm right and it is a decent deal.

The trade offer is for a RIA 1911 with 125 rounds through it. It would come with 100 rounds of ammo and 500 lp primers. I'm told it has a bit of holster wear near the muzzle, but otherwise is good. I'm waiting for some pics of it right now to confirm the condition. Assuming the guy means an even trade, is this a pretty fair trade?

I'm new to 1911's as well and am wondering what to look for when looking one over.

Thanks

A good trade is when both parties think they got a good deal. It sounds like an even deal to me. The RIA is made in the Philippines, if you go to the 1911forum.com there are members there with experience with that brand and model. There is also plenty of info on what and how to check a used 1911. Good luck: Bill

If you're both happy - its a good trade...

On a model 642 - (airweight .38 spl ) in my area they're worth around $ 300 / the Rock Island Armory 1911's ... probably valued about the same.

I don't know why you are selling / trading the revolver - but if it were mine, I would probably make the trade.

The RIA is a good 1911, . . . got some seriously good folks backing them also (go to Other 1911's on forum.1911forum.com).

In central Ohio, . . . they go for 450 and up at the gun shops, . . . tacticals get an added 50 bucks.

I carry one, . . . it's my nightstand gun, . . . it's my favorite shootin' iron, . . . and I have a .22 conversion kit for it, . . . all in all a great weapon value.

May God bless,
Dwight

Thanks for the insight. I realize that if I'm happy and the guy is happy its a good trade. I was just wondering if I was right in thinking it would be a fair trade, because on of us is going to have to travel 90 miles or we will have to meet in the middle somewhere, so we can look over each others guns. I'm heading over to the 1911 forum now.

Thanks

I have three RIA's currently (sold one) and I can tell you they are solid. If you have ANY issues with a RIA, their customer support is second to none and you WILL be taken care of.
