Trade a Glock 23 gen 2 for a S&W 66-2

I am not really a glock fan I got it on trade. I was thinking the smith would be worth more in the long run. I am also more of a wheel gun guy. The 66 is the 4 inch model.

Considering that I'm more a revolver guy than semi-auto guy I would make the trade. Also while the Glock may be a good gun it is not one that I am thrilled with. So that would be another reason I would make the trade. Plus I love a good 357 Magnum.

I hear you but I have both. That's the way to do it. Have both. For me, it's a Glock 19 and a SW Model 19. Some symmetry of numbers?

I like both of them.

I agree 357 python. This is my first glock and I wasn't impressed. Very long trigger pull and I had to force my self on target. I was pretty sure I was going to trade I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't screwing myself.

I can buy 2nd gen Glock 23's all day for $299. I haven't seen any 4" 66's selling that cheap in years. In 10 years the Glock 23 will be worth no more that it is now. The 66 will climb in value.

Before you trade it off you might try a simple and cheap trigger job that dramatically improves the trigger on your Glock. All you need is a 3.5# connector and a Competition Trigger Spring for a lighter and crisper trigger. Much pre-travel and all of the over travel will be eliminated and you'll love your new trigger. Best of all is that its both cheap (about $20) and so easy you can do it yourself.

3.5# Connector: I've tried Glock, Scherer, and Lone Wolf 3.5# connectors in my Glocks and Lone Wolf's is the best hands down because it gives you the best 'break' with less take up and over travel. The other two connectors left a mushy feel in the trigger. You can get it from Glockparts.com for $15 HERE.

Comp Trigger Spring: The Comp Trigger Spring is a higher weight spring (6lbs vs 5lbs) and because the spring works with you pulling the trigger, not against you, the higher spring weight gives you a lighter and crisper pull. Glockparts.com has them for $5 HERE.

While you’re at it, give your Glock a 25¢ trigger job by following the instructions HERE. Its really quite simple to do and you’ll be pleased with the results.

For instructions on replacing your connector and trigger spring, as well as disassembling your Glock, check out Glockparts Disassembly Page. Just click "Disassembly" on the left of his home page. They give instructions with photos to help you do it. Glocks are simple to work on so give it a try.

The 66 is a cooler gun, discontinued, less common and worth more etc.

I don't very much like the glock 23 only because of the caliber. I would certainly make the trade. You can always find another glock. I think the recoil for a 23 is esp snappy for a gun which is designed for SD. For that size glock, 9mm is the way to go, IMO.

I have a 66 no dash and a glock 19 3rd, and while I love that model glock, I would probably do the trade even then if I were you. I need my glock 9mm however for carry, so I'd be less likely to do it but for you who traded to get the glock, and doesn't care for it, you will probably like the 66 much better.

Also, the 2nd gen glock does not have the accessory rail, so if you hold onto it, its a less desirable glock to others. In other words, between the size, cal (9mm is better to have and appeals to more people) and age, it wouldn't be the easiest to unload BUT it is still a glock.

One last thing, I currently have seven 357 mags, a Python and 6 S&W 357s. My 66 is my favorite out of them all. Between the feel, the lighter weight, exc trigger, adjustable sights, SS, etc, you can't really ask for anything more. Its all you need and nothing that you don't.

I would take the trade if I were the one with the Glock. No way would I take it if I were the one with the Smith. It's like trading a Trans Am for a Camry.

This is my first glock and I wasn't impressed. Very long trigger pull and I had to force my self on target.

Are you sure you have a glock? No offense but the glock has hardly any trigger pull. I just traded my G23 gen 2 for a G22 gen 3 so I am very familiar with the glock trigger pull. Try a Keltec p11 if you want to see what a loooong trigger pull is like.

OT: Trade away, if you don't like it get something else. I have had so many different guns this year trying to find the best one for me.
