Tough CCW Question

I am not sure how to broach this in a manner that anyone will feel comfortable answering, but I'll try.
1.There are some states that still do not allow CCW.
2.The SCOTUS has rulled that LEO are not responsible for my protection.
3.This, by definition means I am responsible for my family, and myself.
4.If I CCW, and get caught what do you think the chances are I could talk my way out of it as long as I can articulate this to the LEO?

If I get caught, and can't talk my way out of it, I would at least be out of my line of work. I would at most be in jail. Neither is acceptable, but then the lack of providing security to my family is not an option either.

If caught in this situation what would be the most practicle course of action to get out of it.?

...what do you think the chances are I could talk my way out of it as long as I can articulate this to the LEO?
You can articulate until you're blue in the face, then tell it to a judge. That is not really the job of the LEO (tho they can & do oftentimes allow some leeway in some things)

If said jurisdiction allows open carry, do not conceal said weapon (or be in that mode when dealing with officer of law). Otherwise, have your attorney post bail & do the explaining to the Bench. You get the opportunity to pay your attorney and hope he/she does a good job in Court.

Victim on the "Street" or in the "Legal System", either way you are a participant in something best avoided. Fight to win. Cheat if you must. It's only your life (or your family) at stake.

Bottomline is, YMMV. Some cops understand and will let you off with a warning. Another might throw the book at you. And you might one who will fall somewhere in the middle of these two. This is a rather personal decision. I will not encourage anyone to break the law, but if it really came down to the law vs. your safety, you'll have to think it through and realize the consequences of whichever road you take.

You might want to understand the penalty where you live for violating that law. Then you can know if you are facing a misdemeanor or a felony or something in between.

To count on talking a cop out of arresting you is not a viable strategy.

If it bothers you that much, move.

As an alternative you might start the movement in your political system that gets the law changed.

Depending on where you're at in KS, you could get an out of state CCW permit if you find yourself often in MO, CO, or OK. NE still doesn't have CCW. At least that way you can carry some, and it might give you a bit of an out...'Well, I was just over the line shopping ya know, and I forgot about taking it off...'course, in KS, you still can't have a loaded gun in the vehicle...

KS is one of the last hold outs of the Anti-CCW fronts. They are making a big push for next session to get CCW going again. If you can hold out for a while...
