Nyterunner, I would never exceed 25inlbs on any guard screws in plain wood. In a partially bedded stock 45-50 inlbs and in a pillar bedded stock up to 65 inlbs. If your rifle is bedded start at about 30 and work up at 5lb increments until you find the tightness that groups best for you. George
