Torn...

Hello all,

I am trying very hard to decide between two very different guns. I'm looking at the SIG 250 compact in .40S&W that comes with 3 mags and a extra .357SIG barrel. They want $420 for it, which is an awesome deal. However I already have the SP2022 in 40S&W. The interchangability between ammo and getting the .357SIG helps, but how much more compact is the 250? I'm looking for a gun to CCW, but the SP2022 is a bit big for my liking.

The other is the Taurus 6 shot .327 Federal Mag for $290. It's a bit more concealable, but less rounds. I'm leaning towards the Sig but not if it isn't very comfortable for concealment. I'm of medium build if that is of any help. I'd try them both out, however thats not possible right now and the deal will go away by the time I have the chance to do that.

Thanks,
-Max.

Well i have 3 options for you.

1) Get the Sig
2) Get the Sig
3) Get the Sig.

Any of the above options will be a move in the right direction.

I've shot a glock in .357Sig and really liked it. My ONLY concern is how much more compact and concealable is the 250C than my SP2022.

That's a good deal.

As to size and weight:

SP2022
Length: 7.4"
Height: 5.7"
Width: 1.42"
Weight: 30.2 oz

P250 Compact
Length: 7.2"
Height: 5.1"
Width: 1.3"
Weight: 25.1 oz

Not much difference really. But with the P250 you have the option of swapping out a different size grip frame. The P250 Subcompact is quite a bit smaller than your SP2022.

P250 Subcompact
Length: 6.7"
Height: 4.7"
Width: 1.1"
Weight: 24.9 oz

The Sig 250c isn't very compact. Between a Sig and a Taurus, the only answer is Sig. I like my 250c for what it's worth.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can use a Subcompact grip module on the Compact slide and barrel.

Well, went with the Sig. It seems I have inadvertantly become a Sig fan. If it's not too much more comfortable then my SP2022 I just may end up selling the SP for something else.

Now it just sucks that I won't be able to 'play' with it for a few more months  Thanks for the help!

Well, went with the Sig.

Well, my response is a moot point now, but this was a silly thread based on the responses you received so far.

You could have asked, "I'm thinking of buying a new gun for cc -- the actual gun isn't really all the important here -- what I am looking for is what brand should I buy? Sig or Taurus?"

Because those are the only answers you received. Now it's possible those (save Delaware Dan) who have already posted had some actual experience with the guns you were referring to, but based on the responses I doubt it.

I hope it works out for you. The Sig 250C, with it's DAO trigger, is going to be very different than you are used to. It's not an "expensive" Sig for a reason.

The revolver is different than you are used to as well. Forget about who makes the gun for a minute. The .327 Fed is an interesting round to shoot. Even more interesting is where to find the ammo for it, but probably not much more difficult than finding .357 Sig these days.

In the end it should have come down to the Sig feeling better in your hand and you deciding on shooting the same ammo platform you already shoot - makes more sense economically...But someday you may find yourself looking once again at the revolver. Many wisely own, shoot, and carry them. I would have liked to see the discussion cover the differences between the types of guns you were considering and not the manufacturers.

It just bothers me that so many seem to base their "expert" feedback solely on brand perception.

I got a Taurus Mill.Pro PT-145 and CC IWB.
It's a little fat but 10+1 .45 works for me.
Retail about 360. I'll bet Buds would be less than
300.
I just got on the Willson fire sights and thay rock.
The Mill.Pro's come in 380,9mm,.40,.45.

Predecessor, thanks for your input. I was picking between those two models because of the price and I am indifferent to what kind of weapon I carry so long as I have one that I am comfortable with. I've fired and carried both DAO autos's as well as a few revolvers and felt comfortable with both but havent handled either of the two weapons in question.

I was leaning towards the Sig in the first place, but the .327 Fed has really caught my eye and I think down the road a bit I may pick one up. I was really looking to see if the Sig is about the same size as my SP, and though it's just a bit smaller I think it may feel quite a bit better then the SP. Also, having the selection of using the ammo I already have plus having the extra caliber helped in that choice. I suppose in retrospect I was trying to ask if you had a full size .40S&W, would you go with a compact version or look into a revolver for a new carry weapon.

To be honest, I would of liked to check both out and 'tried them on.' However, I dont think they have to many legal gun stores in the local bazaars and I'm not much looking to get an AK47 or RPG either ;)

Thanks all,
-Max
