Hi all.

I thought it might help people (me included) who haven't done years of hunting if YOU the experienced hunters to tell us the best top ten hunting tips (can be to with preperation, rifles anythibg YOU think is important) that we could all benefit from. Thanks for all the tips and insights in advance.

Mitchell.

when asked by foreign hunters what to bring along for a safari to Africa: i always say that we can take a day of to discuss this pleasant subject but that the most important item to take to any expedition is a healthy sense of humor.

Do a verbal/mental checklist of everything you have going out and coming back. It sucks forgetting ammo or glasses, etc... Or even worse leaving it out there in the field :(

Hi Mitchell,
PM me your email address and I will send you a few notes on the subject, but LT Dan is absolutely right, you can get here anything you forget at home. as long as you bring your sense of humor (and credit card) you'll be fine.
Brgds,
Danny

My top ten Tips.

Well I'll voice my opinion about top ten tips:

1): ALWAYS TELL SOMEONE WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND WHEN YOUR GETTING BACK!!!
2): Do a double and triple check of all your gear (example: make sure batteries are working in the torch if your coming back when its dark!!) and also make sure you've got all your gear coming out.
3): Before the hunt, check your rifle is sighted in!! (an out of site rifle sucks when hunting for multiple reasons 1: you could miss a big trophy, 2: which is the most important, you may injure an animal if its out).
4): Do some research and check where the game are feeding, moving, sleeping ect, before the day of the hunt. So that your not having to move around the country side looking for them.
5): Like a few other posts said bring a good sense of humour, if you miss an animal ITS OK!!!, the world won't blow up.
6): Stay hydrated and bring extra water. (A camel pack is handy because they generally can carry 2litres + of water. (and they come in camo patterns if you want)
7): If the place your shooting on is a private farm/block and its wet, stick to the tracks when in your car. Cars/4wd's tend to rip up wet areas and farmers don't like their padocks ripped up.
8): ALWAYS LEAVE GATES THE WAY YOU FOUND THEM!!!
9): Check the weather and also be aware of your surroundings.
10): POST SOME PICS ON TFL SO WE CAN ENJOY YOUR SUCESS.

HAPPY HUNTING EVERYBODY :)
