Whipped up a few sets of barrel spinners when my old cast aluminum bearing cassettes developed a crack. These should last till I'm too old to do this stuff anymore.

I have one of those, only I like the tips (that go in the barrel and camber) made out of hardwood dowls. They dont work as long, but they are easier on the crown.

That set up works great used on a belt sander, working your way up to 2000 grit you can put a mirror finish on a barrel.

Cool, what exactly do you use that setup for? Put the barrel in there and let it spin as you drag it across a sander to finish it? Any other uses?

Nice job!

Isn't it fun to just go ahead and make whatever it is you happen to need? I miss my shop!

Did you engrave them on your milling machine? Or do you have a laser engraver also?

Looking at carefully made tooling makes me feel the way a woman feels when looking at expensive jewelry. :)

That's very clean work, sir.

All the engraving I do is with a mill and software. With the 4th axis I'm able to project onto cylinders and irregular surfaces as well.

The trick is keeping the tool square to the work surface when fiddling with the odd shaped stuff. Just programming. . .

Thanks for the kind words.

Checked out your site... nice little playground you have there. I only have one question. Hiring? :)

Ever consider adding wire EDM?
