Took out 25-5

I feel sad even posting with TFL closing, BUT...

I took my recently acquired Smith 25-5 out today. Put 120 rounds through her. (50 magtech LRGNFP, 50 Winchester LRN, 20 Winchester Silvertips).

Sights need to be adjusted, was hitting to the right and high a couple inches at eight paces (at 62 paces per 100 meters).

I can tell this piece is more accurate than I am. I can also tell that the loads I was using were mild. The cowboy action stuff was like nothing, even the Silvertips felt mild in the big N-frame.

I love it. :)

Nightcrawler,

I know how you feel. Kinda like sitting with my cousin while she was in the hospital just before she died.

Any way..... I've had my 4" 25-5 since 1982. I have thousands of rounds through it. It has become an extension of me. Whenever I pick it up to shoot it, I feel it has never left my hand.
You won't feel the recoil untill you really start getting to the warm loads.
These guns are in my not so humble opinion, the best ballanced 4" S&W's I have ever shot.

Enjoy yours.

See you around, Joe

Very cool...

My new old .32-20 S&W is still soaking in a mineral spirits bath. Talk about varnish! The sideplate probably hadn't been off in 50 years.

of all the handguns I own, my 25-5 is my all time favorite. 6 inch barrel, extra cylinder in .45 ACP, Tritium sights, custom stocks, matte finish Hard Chrome, and a few other bells and whistles. This is one fine shooting Smith.
